It’s harvest time in our back garden! We have picked so many pounds of so many veggie varieties and there is still lots left for Winter! There is nothing as delicious as freshly-picked broccoli or red or yellow tomatoes, straight off the vine! Unfortunately, because the weather changed rather quickly, I felt forced to pick many of the green tomatoes, wondering if they would ever ripen! Well they did – and they are still …

Come winter, there are still lots of Yukon Golds nestled beneath the soil surface, broccoli, swiss chard and rainbow chard, red cabbage, argulua, mizuna, russian black kale, cauliflower, brussels sprouts … and we’re not finished with peppers and parsley yet (although the rain is trying real hard!)

I didn’t spend a lot of time in the garden through the summer but have to say it is very rewarding to pick and eat what grows right where a water-guzzling lawn used to sit.

It doesn’t come much more local than this!
