Holiday Travel Tips
Whenever a client makes travel plans, I always recommend (strongly) they purchase travel insurance. Some will say they will go “regardless” of what happens, and decline, others will “think about it” and the wise ones investigate the options and cover themselves and their assets!
A recent situation where a client became very ill 24 hours prior to departure resulted in a hefty refund because he had purchased comprehensive travel insurance including trip cancellation. It can be expensive, depending on age, pre-existing conditions, etc. but twice in the past month I have been further convinced about the value of this type of coverage. The second time was a personal experience …

One good reason to always purchase travel insurance
I had returned from a long trip in Europe. I am so glad I had purchased comprehensive travel insurance because my bags were damaged between Rome and Porto and I needed to file a claim. I called the toll-free number, filed the claim, and was given approval to buy new luggage.
Now, of course, I have to submit all the documents to support my claim – and there are many requirements! Luckily, I had filed a complaint with Brussels Airlines on arrival in Porto and had kept all my baggage tags, boarding passes etc. From this exercise, I have learned to NEVER throw away any travel documents until well after your return home. You never know when you will need them! It’s also a good idea since you may want to catch up on registering your flight for frequent flyer points after you return home. You definitely require boarding passes for that.
I am licensed to sell travel insurance and would be happy to discuss your travel insurance needs. Just fill in the form and I will get back to you within 24 hours.
