Edible landscape here we come!

Be still my beating heart! I have long wanted to change our back garden into something more than grass and a few shrubs with veggies and herbs here and there. So you can imagine how thrilled I was to meet a young man called Steve Baker who has offered to turn it into an edible landscape. My dreams WILL come true!

I have many edible plants in that south-facing area which is accessed through an archway of roses and up a few steps, but somehow it is all mixed up, lacking definition. And mowing grass on a slope is difficult with a handmower so we had bought an electric mower (which I don’t want to use any more).

Steve is going to help me design, plan and then make it happen! We will document our progress as I am sure there will be lots of fodder (?!) for a book he is writing on Urban Agriculture. We are also arranging a Garden Workshop on Urban Agriculture … see Slow Food blog for more details.

Edible flowers. Fruit. Vegetables. Herbs. What a bountiful garden it will be!
