CanPages Monster Book Returns

I wrote about this last year and now, as the new book was thrown at my front door today, I have to write again. It is at least 5″ thick, has a glossy cover and has 2,360 pages. That is 2,360 pages of paper that I did not ask for, nor do I want. This monster book must weigh 5 lbs. To think for a moment of the energy used:

to chop down the trees
to transport those trees to the mills
to produce the pulp
to turn pulp into paper
to print each page
to assemble each book
to distribute each book to each house across Canada

…and I must have missed some steps too!

I cannot believe that Gordon Campbell and Brian Tobin endorse this environmentally unfriendly product. This is the age of the internet … this information should be available online and government information provided in a small, recycled paper directories.

And, to Olivier Vincent, CEO and President of Canpages, I say “take away your monster directory from my property. I don’t want it. And I don’t want to have to carry it to the curb for recycling … but I will because I have no choice.” Think green!!!
